Racing: Russian trio changes to Fischer

There were signs of it during the season but it has now been confirmed: Fischer has three prominent new signings to announce. Svetlana Sleptsova (RUS), Ivan Tcherezov (RUS) and Evgeny Ustyugov (RUS) will be in the race for points and medals with Fischer in future. The members of the Russian national biathlon team, each of them Olympic medal winners in Vancouver, will make the already highly successful Fischer Racing Team even stronger from now on.

Svetlana Sleptsova, who put in sensational performances at both the World Championships in Pyeong Chang, Korea and at the Olympic Games in Vancouver (CAN) as the starter in the victorious Russian relay team, already had her new equipment in use at the final World Cup weekend of the season.

While the 23-year-old from the future WCH town Khanty-Mansiysk (RUS) fixed her change at the end of the season, fellow Russian Ivan Tcherezov did not sign the contract with his new equipment provider until last Friday. The 29-year-old who now competes for the City of Tyumen was the starter of the Russian relay team that won bronze in Vancouver and also finished third in the overall World Cup last season. In future both of them will be setting out on the track to success with the striking and extremely light Nordic Hole Ski.

Confidence in the complete package
Evgeny Ustyugov has gone one step further. The fourth-placed athlete in the overall World Cup 09l10 will be placing his trust additionally in the newly developed racing boot from Fischer, the RCS Carbonlite Skating, which unites a perfect fit and high-tech. This new development already caught the public's eye in Vancouver, where Fischer dominated not only as the best ski brand but also for the first time as the best boot brand. "The equipment package was particularly convincing for me," says the Olympic winner and two-times medal winner in Vancouver. "I am sure that I will have many causes for celebration in the future with it."

Gerhard Urain, Nordic Race Director at the global market leader, is satisfied: "We are delighted about the boost for our biathlon team. With these new signings we are very well prepared for the future, especially in terms of the important Russian market."
