Racing: Poutiainen changes to Fischer

Finn signs two-year contract

A prominent figure has joined the Fischer team: Tanja Poutiainen will be going into future races with skis, boots and bindings from the Austrian Innviertel region. Following positive tests carried out by the Finn in Rovaniemi (FIN) in the presence of Fischer Racing Director Siegi Voglreiter, Tanja has now decided to take a big step and change brands, signing a two-year contract with Fischer, her new equipment provider.

Two partners, one vision

"I had a lot of time to think things over and take a look around after the final World Cup races. I was looking for a partner who shares my vision concerning the way forward. And I found precisely that in Fischer," says Poutiainen, for whom a new brand also means extra motivation. "I saw straight away that Fischer is very interested. We had great tests with a fantastic team that made me feel very welcome right from the start and I am confident that we can achieve a lot together in the future." The decision was clear but also a difficult one. With her new equipment the three-times winner of the small crystal globe will be aiming to be among the world's best in the World Cup and celebrate many victories. The first test is already only a few days away when, next week at the Finnish Championships, Poutiainen will have her sights set on victory with her new skis from Ried.

Leinonen and Poutiainen join forces with Fischer

The World Cup star will also be joined in the Fischer team by young Finnish hopeful Sanni Leinonen. The two racers will both be sharing their service man, with Jan Tuupainen rounding off an ideal combination. Siegi Voglreiter is also delighted about the way things have progressed. "Two racers from one nation in the same team is a bonus. Tanja is a very experienced skier and Sanni has great potential," says Voglreiter, highly enthusiastic about the two new signings. "They are perfect for our women's team. This is fantastic news after a couple of eventful weeks!"

Important decisions still to be taken

The ski transfer market will certainly not calm down for some time, however. "We are still awaiting a couple of important decisions and will know more next week. No matter what happens, we had a good opportunity to make comparisons in a wide range of tests and we know that our skis are top class," says a cautious Voglreiter, in the hope that Tanja Poutiainen will not be the last big-name signing in this transfer period.
