Tor Brown – "Mr Jibskate"
from Truckee, California USA
born 1st January 1976
Tor Brown started Nordic skiing at an early age, beginning to race in High School and later for his University before becoming Nordic resort manager. He loved to train hard but he and his friends also liked to include a little fun in their training.
Inspired by his first 360s on skating skis,
Tor then went on to risk the wildest of jumps after training sessions.
It goes without saying that fun was high on the list:
"It was a very fun version of Nordic Skiing and made all the race training worthwhile.
" But there was more to come. While the Californian was gathering experience in terrain building for Nordic Parks,
the idea of a new skating ski was growing inside him.
"I wanted a skate ski that could go in the park and not break and could ride backwards."
His annual race at the Northstar-at-Tahoe Resorts became known as "The Fun Race".
This was because after the race, all the skating fans would perform jumps and tricks in Tor's Terrain Park.
In 2003 Tor approached Fischer to present his crazy idea of a Jibskate.
Today, the Californian runs the Fischer Jibskate Project.
